PODtriangle (PODt) has been setup to provide talented musicians, aspiring to a career as a soloist or an orchestral position, with an instrument that will match and enhance their potential.
POD stands for Players, Owners and Donors - the three groups we bring together to source and loan quality stringed instruments to musicians.
Much like the Australian real estate market where prices have increased at a much higher rate than buyer or renter income, good stringed instruments have significantly increased in value. Musicians often cannot afford an instrument to match their talent. Our operations are initially based in Melbourne with plans to expand to cover the whole of Australia.
PODtriangle launched on Wed 27th March 2024 at Tempo Rubato.
Our patron Barry Jones gave a presentation on the importance of music and the work of PODtriangle. The speech can be read HERE
By the end of 2024 the first two instruments went out on loan - a violin and a cello. 2025 will see a significant expansion of loan instrument operations.

There are two procurement routes for sourcing instruments and loaning them to Players:-
Owner loaned - if an Owner has a stringed instrument not being played, then we ask that they loan it to us. We get it into playing condition, insure it, find the right player, set up loan contracts and manage the loan process. Players will pay a 2% (approx.) annual rental charge by instrument value, which includes insurance plus a refundable bond and an annual cleaning fee.
PODt owned instrument loan. PODt seeks donations of cash and instruments to build a collection that will stay in Australia for current and future musicians.
